² and asked, “Where is the one who was born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east^[a] and have come to worship him.”

³ When King Herod heard this, he was disturbed, as was all of Jerusalem. ⁴ He called together all the high priests and scribes of the people and asked them where the Messiah^[b] was to be born.
